So what is going on in this picture ? Perhaps more than you might think at first glance
“Spot the difference”, Lille, France
I took this photograph in Lille and January and there’s just so much to say about it. At first glance, it looks like a nice red brick house, but very soon things seem a bit off.
Firstly the picture looks somewhat crooked. That’s not because it is, but simply because apart from a few elements in the picture, all of the other angles of the windows or doors are off are slightly off vertically or horizontally. Even the pavement is not even.
Secondly, despite being a rather homogenous red building, no windows or doors are the same! The shape, the size, the colour, the width are all different. It almost seems as if it has been done deliberately. Even the rain gutters are different colours
You might wonder why I left the wall and the wheelie bin in the picture as they’re a bit random as well. Well that’s just it, I thought that they looked the part in the picture and fit in with its general “wonkiness”
It is just an all-round confusing picture that raises more questions than it answers and that’s why I love it. There’s just so many details to look at and you’ve probably noticed some more differences that I didn’t !
